My First Day Back

So, today was my first day back at school. Although we had no kids (just inservice) it has been a long day. In fact, I am still here at my desk (6:03 p.m. Central) contemplating the first 6 weeks of curriculum and instruction. I have had very little time to actually think about "teaching" because of the situation at my school. You see, progress takes some sacrifice, and as of right now, our school is a construction zone. New drywall, new paint, new chair rails... it sounds great doesn't it? It is just too bad that construction workers don't share the same obsessive eye as I do, and so when they moved all of my things from the shelves, the floor seemed like a perfectly plausible place to stack them (in no particular fashion). I am just a little stressed because it has taken me 4-- let me emphasize that 4 hours to vacuum, dust, and stack my books (and sensitive course work) back on the shelves in their previous (very meticulous) fashion. So sorry if I sound a bit dramatic-- and just plain unpleasant. I promise, people who know me would say that I am completely endurable; some may even like me quite a bit. Well, as I stated before, no REAL work has been done as of now, and my Crucible unit isn't going to plan itself, so although you want to hear more about a disgruntled teacher upset because she has to clean her own classroom, I must go for now.

Just Testing It Out

Okay...so I've never written a blog before. Now, I'm at the point where I feel behind the ball in terms of technology in the classroom-- like I've missed the boat. I guess this is the first step in getting my students caught up in the world of technology; a world which has obviously (to me anyway) left them behind. So, this is just a test. My goal is to familiarize myself with blogging so that I can better guide them in creating their own online "journals". I want them to have an outlet that they can access at school or home which at the same time keeps them interested and motivated.
